The Long Way

Monterey Car Week, August 2026

The long way to Monterey.

This August we load the trunk of the R129 and take the coast road to Car Week. The drive, the stops, the serve over ice at blue hour, all of it filmed. The list rides along.

The drive.

A 1990s Mercedes in Bornite, a paint that reads like a blackberry in the last light. A trunk fitted to pour a proper drink over ice. Ten days among the greatest cars in the world, taken the slow way. We built ACUTE for evenings like these, so we are driving it there and pouring it properly.

A poured coupe of Velvet State beside its can on the trunk lid, car keys resting nearby.

Ride along.

Dispatches from the road, written as they happen. The route, the stops, the machines worth pulling over for, the serve at the end of each day. The road film lands with the list before it lands anywhere else. First access, the whole way.

A coupe glass and a can of ACUTE Velvet State on the trunk of a classic Mercedes at blue hour.

The drink in the trunk.

ACUTE is three cocktails built on gentian root, non-alcoholic, made to open up over ice and reward a slow quarter hour. Hi-Hat is ginger and lime. Velvet State is blackberry, elderflower, and sage. Curtain Call is grapefruit, rhubarb, and vanilla. The glass goes down and the keys come with you.

One field. The road does the rest.
